After Sony Online Entertainment was being hit by hackers all of its subscribers suffered dearly for the lack of security on SOE’s side. Looks like SOE learned its lessons after all: Fan Fairy 2011 brings announcement of SOE Authenticator being released to ensure account security for all SOE Station accounts. The thing is similar to the device used by Blizzard for World of WarCraft accounts security and will provide its user with a unique, one-time authenticator code (PIN) to use in conjunction with the account’s regular password. How – according to SOE – the thing will work? (more…)

- This is madness! – No, this is… Sony! – should we say. Previously, Sony lost PlayStation Network users data to hackers at April, 26th (which i missed being in Egypt). So far i haven’t seen a solid explanation of what exactly happened and how, just some mumbling excuses on Sony’s part. Today Sony took down all its game servers due to ANOTHER hacker attack and compromised security! Turns out, some hackers (the same team?) just owned all SOE customers data, including personal and credit card information. “Customers outside the United States should be advised that we further discovered evidence that information from an outdated database from 2007 containing approximately 12,700 non-US customer credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates (but not credit card security codes) may have also been obtained – we will be notifying each of those customers promptly” Sony says. So the hacking guys practically plundered everything and went out unnoticed for 24 hours, AFTER the attack on PSW which should have done – what? To ring an alarm, maybe, that there are hackers around? Hello! Is anyone even in there? I wouldn’t feel sorry for these Sony dumbasses if not for my credit card information associated with Vanguard account. And the Vanguard server being unavailable too, btw. (more…)

This is Part 3 of the story of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. A story of the fail that really was famous in it’s days, the story of a game that was pretty much fail at the beginning of its life – but got fixed, patched and in time became a real gem that would shine if this game was released, say, last or this year – but not many people know about it. Because if you fail once, it’s almost impossible to avert the damage (and Square Enix is learning this lesson now too, i bet). So, we all heard it was a big fail, right? But how and why did it happened in the first place? And why now I’m calling this game “a gem” when you probably heard no one plays it now? (more…)

Previously i wrote the Famous Fails tag for those games that look famous and popular, but in truth – if you look closely – they are actually a pretty bad choice to play. Now, this is a different story. A story of the fail that really was famous in it’s days, the story of a game that was pretty much fail at the beginning of its life – but got fixed, patched and in time became a real gem that would shine if this game was released, say, last or this year – but not many people know about it.
