Yesterday, as you probably know, Star Wars: The Old Republic was finally and officially launched. The early access allowed many players to start as long as a week before the official launch (and many are said to reach the level cap in such a short time), still the swarm of players attacking Bioware servers is almost unprecedented. With as many 200 servers, players are to spend up to 2 hours (!!) waiting in a line to login! Bioware is saying they’re treating the problem very seriously, but can’t guarantee the lack of lines just yet. To try and control the flow of new players the sales of SW:TOR at Origin were ceased for some time. With such an influx of players, would Star Wars: The Old Republic be a real competitor for World of Warcraft? (more…)

I’m sure you know about this game already – it’s making quite a buzz around the Western Internets even without an official Western publisher. But, just in case: ArchAge is an upcoming Korean sandbox fantasy MMORPG by XLGAMES, a studio founded by Jake Song, who left NCsoft in 2003. Here i dug up some video from G*Star 2011 showing a lot about what ArchAge is promising to deliver once it’s released. Currently ArchAge is undergoing its 4th Closed Beta stage. Also, i haven’t been adding posts with “wishing on a star” tag for quite some time now – so, just to remind you, it’s for the games that i wish to be released in English.
A news came through TenTonsHammer that Lionhead Studios has opened a vacancy at Microsoft Careers.com (proof) for a programmer who is supposed to work on an MMO project! Exception from the job description: “Lionhead Studios is seeking a highly skilled Experienced Principal Programmer to be a key contributor on an unannounced title. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys playing MMO games and has significant experience with the workings of a massive online multiplayer environment”. Well, you can bite my ass if they’re not working on a Fable MMO! And here’s why i think so.
G*Star is an annual Korean trade show featuring computer and video games, E3 of the Eastern world, so to say. Thanks to a wonderful Korean VadersBlog we can check out what Nexon (the leading Korean online gaming company) had to show at G*Star 2011 – and what, potentially, could reach the Western gaming market sometime later in the coming years. I have missed the moment when G*Star was taking place, but still, being kinda late at that… let’s see if anything interesting turned up. (more…)
Dragona Online: Philippines release – open beta started August 16, 2011 – English language available
The game a new self-developed title by Korean studio Liveplex and i wrote about Dragona Online it a while ago (the game is also known as Dragona Story Online). When i wrote that post there has been no indication of English version being in development, but, surprisingly, it looks like Philippines version of Dragona Online will be released in English! The game features its own unique “possession system” which allows game characters to transform into Dragons, and the game’s graphic engine is also very nicely done. As of August 16, 2011 Dragona Online open beta testing has started for Philippines version. Here’s Dragona Online PH official teaser trailer: (more…)
To all Alicia Online fans out there! I have been able to contact Alicia Online developers and asked them if there are any plans to bring Alicia Online to Western market and release an English version of the game. And i received an answer! There is a good news and a bad news for all of us. Read the rest of the post to learn more about what are the news about Alicia Online English release! Note that this post is never than the one previously called “current state of an English release” (i had to rename it in order for both posts to make sense). (more…)
I just couldn’t walk past this – it’s not so often when a development team from my country announces an online game! So, the deal is: Deep Black Online has been announced by Biart Studio (based in Moscow, Russia). These guys like to make games about diving and underwater (I’m already starting to love them) and are using their own engine with full 3D support. Deep Black Online is a F2P sci-fi session-based shooter game that will let you combat in all manners of environment – the land, the underwater and the air – using more than 30 types of sci-fi weapons at launch, but we can safely double that because each weapon is said to have different modes for land and water. “Our company focuses on underwater themes in games and we are planning to demonstrate the full potential of Deep Black franchise in our MMOTPS project” said Konstantin Popov, Biart Studio´s CEO. Nearly 3 years have passed since T3 Entertainment took control of Flagship Studios’ title Hellgate: London – originally the game had both single-player and MMO-like pay2play gameplay modes, but the game’s MMO part was cancelled short after launch. Now, T3 is almost ready to show us what new Hellgate will be like – closed beta testing will be taking place for a short period of June 3 to 5, and the new Hellgate version is said to be free2play this time. You can claim your key at GameOgre or Massively – both are giving away Hellgate closed beta keys right now. Also, i included a Hellgate: London sneak peak video (behind the cut) for those who have no idea what it was about. (more…)
Eden Eternal is new F2P PVP MMORPG developed by X-Legend and Aeria Games. The game is supposed to have a few fresh features, like unlockable classes that you can switch between as you unlock the new ones (it is unknown yet how similar to RIFT this system is). It has several different races (including animal-like) and players could establish their own towns. Eden Eternal is already released in Japan, and English version is reaching Closed Beta Test phase – CBT sign-up has opened today, at the official website. (more…)
Prius Online is a free2play fantasy MMORPG previously released in Japanese and Chinese languages and that i was anticipating for long, and now is on the way to being released on English by GPotato. I must admit that i missed the biggest part of the beta due to my diving trip to Egypt, but i managed to spend a few days in Prius Online Closed Beta and here are my impressions on the game. It’s always hard to sum up your thought on a new game after you can’t get in anymore. Also, because i only spent a few days out of all time i probably saw much less stuff than anyone who were playing from the start, so i am not going into revealing any dramatic details or such. Just talking about what i saw and how i thought/felt about it. (more…)
Tribes: Ascend is a new Sci-Fi FPS MMO and the latest installment of Tribes franchise announced by Hi-Rez Studios (the guys who made Global Agenda) a few months ago, the game is supposedly focused on “team combat on an epic scale”. It’s build on Unreal Engine 3 and as every other game in the series will be featuring cool stuff like jetpacks, skiing and vehicles riding, available on PC and XBLA somewhere in late 2011. What we could see about this game right now is mostly concept art pictures posted on Tribes: Ascend Facebook group wall, but here we have something new: two screenshots of actual gameplay, featuring aerial combat. It is also the first time when actual screenshots are being available for Tribes: Ascend, so check them out!
Now, i have probably really missed my timing with this video, because it’s been out for two weeks now, but it’s still pretty cool. Phantasy Star Online 2 is a Japanese MMORPG developed by Sega and it’s currently in production. I’m really looking forward to playing this game! (more…)
Prius Online: Beta Key Giveaway In This Post! Plus Instructions on How to Redeem Your Prius Online Beta Key
In the previous post i told you how to register an account in a game where you’re banned by IP – and for some countries Prius Online has an IP blockade (a list of Prius Online country coverage is also here). If you happen to be under that blockade, now you know what to do. This post offers instructions on how to register in Prius Online beta. PREVIOUSLY I GAVE AWAY A KEY TO PRIUS ONLINE CLOSED BETA HERE – NO BETA KEY HERE NOW, IT WAS MONTHS AGO, AND CLOSED BETA HAS BEEN FINISHED FOR WEEKS! STOP ASKING FOR KEYS!
Access blocked based on country of origin in both Prius Online and ARGO online – Details of blockage.
It was just a couple of days ago that i went totally apeshit on Alaplaya’s fucked-up ARGO Online Beta IP blockade that left me out of playing after sending me a beta key, and now it appears that GPotato has picked up the same kind of behavior: blocking away registrations based on IP. What Alaplaya did: first they allowed me to register and THEN banned from playing (i couldn’t even access my account anymore, and their support did not even know why is that). What GPotato does: they won’t even let me register an account while i’m under Russian IP. What a bunch of lousy motherfuckers. Anyways, a gamer can never be turned away from a game by some minor obstacles (unless dealing with Korean government). As i want to play both ARGO Online and Prius Online very badly, i’m exploring ways to get past the IP block and into the games. (more…)
Well, I’m outraged. I want to smash things and make people bleed slowly and painfully by cutting them with a blunt spoon. Remember that ARGO Online Closed beta thing i was so cheerful about? Well, after getting a beta code, entering it, waiting for several months, being chosen for the beta i am BANNED from it because i choose “Russian Federation” country setting! They choose my account to participate in beta, but they won’t let me in because I’m from Russia!!! Now i have to lie about my country of origin and nationality just to play some fucking game? How fucked up is that? Seriously? (more…)
