Kamael is a race in an MMORPG Lineage II, and they are distinguished from light and dark elves by their unusual appearance – each individual bearing a single wing. This cosplay looks very well done, the costumes show Salamander Skin light armor D-grade set, and i must say, they are the best Kamaels out there I’ve seen so far. And the most pleasant part for me is that the both cosplayers are Russians, lol! Kamael-male is done by ErikDesler - whose real name is Pavel – and Kamael-female is Leetah, who has a 6-years old kid and “a rather demanding job”, so she has not much time to spent on her cosplaying projects. Both cosplayers live in Moscow, the costumes were each made by their respective owner, with wings and rapiers made by them together. Photosets are by JustMoolti (who is also living in Moscow) and by Tis. (more…)
Chinese military training game is to be released as online shooter “Glorious Mission”, features its own Master Chief
Well, this is something really new! There are games used in some countries to train specialists – pilots, captains and military, that kind of thing – and one of these games is going to be released for everyone in China to play. A game that has been developed for military training of personnel of the armed forces of China will be available to all civilian gamers under the title of “Glorious Mission” (locally known as “光荣使命”). It was developed by joint efforts of Nanjing Military Region Game Center and Wuxi Giant Network, and was used to give soldiers and officers an idea what the real battlefield experience might be, so it has some really unique features none of the other FPS games can offer. The game itself uses DX11 and one of the most advanced products ever released on Chinese gaming market in the terms of technical realisation.
I believe, this kind of costumes are called “fur cosplay”, but i am not a specialist. Though, even i can see how awesome this costume is – i love the moogle’s ears most – and looking at the photos i can help but keep wondering, how hard in fact it was to make a costume like this come to life. Good thing it seems to be autumn when this photo shoot has been taken, or i bet it would be very hot in all that fur, lol!
Anyway, this amazing costume was made by Semashke, a Lithuanian cosplayer currently living in UK, and the costume participated in NowJapan 2011 in Vilnius and Russian Animatsuri 2011 photo cosplay contest, and won 3 prizes (not surprisingly!). The Moogle character is actually only looking like a bunny, in fact Moogles are fantasy creatures presented in most Final Fantasy games. Semashke says she chose one from FFXII because it looks more realistic. The photos are by Anna Ozerova and Alexander Schneider ([c:c:c] team).
So exciting! XLGAMES Inc. and Mail.Ru Group have announced a signing of agreement to begin cooperation on bringing ArchAge to Russia. ArchAge is a Korean sandbox fantasy MMO developed by XLGames, with top-notch graphics and many uncommon features, such as player-owned ships that could be used for fighting and extensive crafting and gathering systems. Mail.Ru Group is one of the leading companies on Russian digital entertainment market. It is not clear as to when the release date might be set, but ArcheAge Russian promo site is already up and offering to sign-up for beta testing, and they’ve put a promo video on it too, which I included in the post (behing the cut). I’ve stumbled upon a single picture of this costume, loved it and practically had to dig all over the Internets for an hour to find who the model is and where might be other photos of this costume. So, without further ado – a cosplay of Dragona Online (a fantasy MMO that went out of business in the West recently) scout character by Christine Jean Blardony, aka Tin or Blardz from Philippines, an active cosplayer of both anime and k-pop cosplays/events. Besides that, she’s a hardcore PS2 gamer, a dancer and – whoa! – a violinist. Christine is taking part in H3AT, a female cover group of a South Korean boy band 2PM and a hiphop dance crew. I dunno where she even finds enough time to create such nice costumes between all of that – i especially like the wings in this one. Here’s Christin’s Facebook fan page, give it ago. As for the pictures, they are from different photo sessions are the credits belong to Paolo Panganiban, IAmGem and Imagine Photography and Akihiko Photography. A fun fact: i think, the last photographer had done something wrong with their camera, because the pictures were marked as shot at November 30, 1999 – when Christine was just 7 years old, lol!
I’m sure you’ve seen part of this already, an Iron Man helmet made out of a grapefruit for a cat – you might have seen it on Kotaku and a hundred of other blogs – BUT THERE’S MORE PICS IN THAT SET!!! Yes, I AM screaming, because everyone just reposting one single piece of that amazing cat cosplay, where there are many more! There are two other similar “costumes” consisting of fruity “helmets”. One of those even has a backpack made out of a lemon! And another one is even put on a tiny dog! Yes, a tiny dog, and saw someone at Kotaku’s post commenting that it would be great to make a cosplay like that for a dog – and here it is, it WAS actually made in the first place! The photo set I found is made like a single very long picture, so i put it behind the cut. It was made by someone speaking Chinese and watermarked with this address – weibo.com/ama0711 (Chinese Twitter-like platform), but when I tried to go there, I think it offered me to register a new account. Whoever this ama0711 is, they are awesome and totally rule!
In the first part i told you how to prepare to move your blog, how keep the same URLs in WordPress like you did in Blogger and how to import data from Blogger to WordPress. This part is about fixing whatever you’ve got to fix next, and there could be a lot of things! WordPress and Blogger have a lot of differences, like WordPress posts requiring Featured image that has to be stored locally in the WordPress’ own folder and not on some other hosting. You could have been using MS Live Writer for your Blogger posts, so there could be images used in your blog and stored at Picasa servers because of it, there could be leftover HTML from Blogger that is no longer valid, and images stored at remote servers, and other things. I was thinking of playing Star Wars: The Old Republic again, but i lost my security key and had to dance around SWTOR support like a drunk shaman around ancestral spirits, or something. So i wrote this post – what happens if you lose your Star Wars: The Old Republic Security Key here – but it was already getting long, and i didn’t tell how exactly one could lose the said Security Key. As i found out, it’s much easier than anyone might think, at least if you use BioWare’s iPhone app. (more…)
Those who are subscribed to ChickGeekGames.com feed have noticed that recently a stream of pictures had appeared between blog posts. That’s my Instagram, and I’m trying to figure out how to display previews from it (and other posts too) right in the feed. You’ll notice when I’ll – hopefully – succeed. There are other things I would like to add to the blog, just to let you know.
I’ve been trying to write stories about what life is like here in Russia, didn’t finish a lot of those, but I’d like to start writing those again. Originally, I post them in another blog, but that’s too bothersome, and besides practically no one knows about the other blog (besides spammers, of course), so I will move the posts here and will write an occasional story from time to time.
I also want to write about other things, books perhaps, places I’ve seen, web comics perhaps. (more…)
If you have a free blog at Google’s Blogger platform and think it’s time to move it to a more personal place like WordPress, i have done that very recently and want to share the experience. There are lots of blog posts about the same thing, of course, but half of them are outdated and the other half describes only part of the process, and anyway i want to save some tips for myself in one place, just in case. I am sorry i did not made any screenshots in the process :( (more…)
TamaRPG (aka Mars-Cat) is a graphic designer and cosplayer from Thailand. She’s a fan of anime, manga (lots of manga, in fact), video and online games and, obviously, of S4 League which is an online multiplayer anime shooter game, published by Alaplaya in Western countries. The costume TamaRPG has made shows one of the characters available to players in S4 League and looks really awesome. Click for larger pictures and don’t forget to check out TamaRPG’s DeviantArt page here! (more…)
Strictly saying, cats aren’t playing games – unless of course those are not special iPad games for cats - but if they were, I bet a lot of them would’ve been great gamers. In fact, I think many cats would’ve been kicking our sorry asses all the time! Here are some pictures of those great cat gamers for you to enjoy. With those cat games on iPad, maybe in a couple years there will be real gamepads for kitties, who knows?
Another post of my “XAMPP vs local WordPress installation ” knowledge. The first was How to setup a local copy of WordPress with XAMPP where questions like “what is XAMPP?” and “why would someone need a local copy of WordPress?” and even why am i writing this, are addressed. Go there if you’re not sure. This post is addressing an error that crops up on WordPress quite often – when WordPress can’t connect to a local FTP, and so automatic plugin and theme installing and upgrading is not working. Unfortunately, i couldn’t find a single solution and had to patch it up from different sources. Here are the results. (more…)
I’ve already wrote about Nebulaluben - who is a wonderful cosplayer from Madrid, Spain – and her SW:TOR-themed cosplay of Grand Master Jedi Satele Shan. This Tali’Zorah cosplay is so damn amazing, I am at a loss of words. Not only the costume itself is pretty cool, but some of the images has been photoshopped to include a background resembling the game’s environment. And as someone with Photoshop skills i can say it’s a nice piece of work! The credits for this cosplay are as following: the costume is by Nebulaluben and Erikku-kun (check out their Facebook page), photo and editing by Hidrico. Click images for larger versions. (more…)
Like some other games (those of Sony Online Entertainment, for example), Star Wars: The Old Republic is utilising a system known as “security key” to raise another wall of defence between your account and those who’d like to get a hold of it. But not many gamers are aware that this system can also become a wall between them and their own accounts in case the key is lost. And, turns out, it’s way more easy to lose the key than anyone would’ve expected! So, what happens if you use Security Key for your SWTOR account and you lose the key, and how can you lose it in the first place? (more…)
