The Gamer Cat and kitchen sink treasures

This video is only a couple weeks old, we’re living in a rented space right now and it has this awfully small kitchen with no dishwasher (the horror!!!) and everything cramped together, still the Gamer Cat gets the best out of his situation. He’s fishing for a dishwashing sponge, by the way (they are made in bright colors, he just can’t resist).

On Instagram and other new stuff

Those who are subscribed to ChickGeekGames.com feed have noticed that recently a stream of pictures had appeared between blog posts. That’s my Instagram, and I’m trying to figure out how to display previews from it (and other posts too) right in the feed. You’ll notice when I’ll – hopefully – succeed. There are other things I would like to add to the blog, just to let you know.

I’ve been trying to write stories about what life is like here in Russia, didn’t finish a lot of those, but I’d like to start writing those again. Originally, I post them in another blog, but that’s too bothersome, and besides practically no one knows about the other blog (besides spammers, of course), so I will move the posts here and will write an occasional story from time to time.

I also want to write about other things, books perhaps, places I’ve seen, web comics perhaps. (more…)

Best Gamer Cats Pictures

Strictly saying, cats aren’t playing games – unless of course those are not special iPad games for cats - but if they were, I bet a lot of them would’ve been great gamers. In fact, I think many cats would’ve been kicking our sorry asses all the time! Here are some pictures of those great cat gamers for you to enjoy. With those cat games on iPad, maybe in a couple years there will be real gamepads for kitties, who knows?

ChickGeekGames 2.0 – now with WordPress!

God, was this hard, you have no idea! But here it is – a new design, new categories and tags structure, new hosting and new toys for me to play with, heh heh. Okay, what is going to change now? Previously, ChickGeekGames was a part of Blogger – a free blogging platform owned by Google – so it was hosted on their servers and ran on their software. Now, ChickGeekGames has been moved to WordPress, which is a free blogging software, and i had it installed on a separate (not Google) hosting. Now, if you came and something isn’t working, then either i do maintenance at that very moment, or something is broken and i’m not avare of that, so you just leave a comment somewhere – doesn’t matter where, i get them all anyway. Phew! Now, what else is new, besides the impeding doom of breaking something down? Unfortunately, Google Friends Connect didn’t make it, anyone who used that – you’ll have to subscribe to RSS now. Off-Topic: How to watch NetFlix from outside of USA

Not a gaming post, you see, but i thought it might be useful so i’ll just leave it here… You’ve probably heard of Netflix, right? That fancy video-on-demand streaming service americans are used to hype about, making all of us non-americans super jealous, because presumably you can’t use Netflix unless you’re in USA. Well, there are a lot of guides on how to bypass that restriction, but most of them talks about methods that aren’t cheap and/or aren’t easy. Just a few days ago the collective brain of my household was able to figure out how to get our hands on Netflix cheap AND easy at the same time. So i’m writing this general directions in case someone else needs them. Oh, and the best thing – all of this is perfectly legal. (more…)

Whew! I can’t believe i made it so far! :))) Thought, the first blog post went live on 10/14/2010 (and got 12 views :)) there could have been many more posts than mere 200, i am not a blogging Terminator spewing 10-20 posts per day, so it really IS a huge number for me :) Thanks you all for reading this blog! I hope we all are having some fun here and I’m not boring you to death, lol :) Okay, there are some stats behind the cut, saved for the generations to come. Back to life again :) Introducing the Gamer Cat!

Hello everyone! I hope someone still reads this blog even after the total lack of new posts for a couple of last months. I am truly sorry about that :( First, being ill and treated, then recovering, then being scared to shit by the amount of work that piled up while i was down, etc., etc. But things are getting better and, hopefully, i will resume writing stuff again from now on :) There are a few changes that will be coming and i want to mention here. Not dead yet

Hey guys, just to let everyone know  why there haven’t been any new posts as of lately – i came back from my diving trip to Egypt safely at 07.09.2011, but then fell sick and spent last 10 days in hospital :((( just came back home today and not sure if I’m not going to be kept at another hospital again.

and no, the matter of my sickness is not related to diving in any obvious matter, it’s some exclusively woman health issues I’m dealing with.

Off-Topic: Chick Geek Games blog stats & News: Over 1000 Page views a day, Over 2000 Twitter followers

I post from time to time to mark how the blog is changing :) And changing it is – yesterday was the first time when, according to Blogger statistics, this blog crossed 1000 daily page views! :P Also, i have Google PageRank 2 now, which is quite an improvement. Looking into my backlinks (i.e. links leading to Chick Geek Games) i discovered that some of my posts even made it into Wiki for certain game, which is very cool and means i wrote something really worth reading! Also, i wanted to let everyone know i will be away between 27 August and 7 September on a diving trip, so no posting between the dates, i am afraid! (more…)

Off-Topic: How to Make a Cheap Lightbox and a Lighting System for it at Home

I sometimes write off-topic posts, but this time it’s even a useful one :) I’m going to tell how to make a cheap lightbox at home, along with lighting system and stuff. Me and my husband are working together on a website project that requires shooting the client’s glass stuff for a catalogue, and we have no professional equipment or the money to buy one, so we built an affordable lightbox and the lights for it right at home. Yes, this post is not exactly related to games, but i wanted to share it with my twitter friends and i don’t have other blogs written on English, so… if you’re not interested, just pass on this post :) (more…)
