Alicia Online: Step-by-step guide on how to run it on Windows 7 Professional / Windows 7 Home using Vistalizator
And a long-due guide, I say! A couple of years ago I thought that Alicia could only run on Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise versions, because they have access to Language packs, and Korean is needed to be installed for Alicia Online to run. That was a mistake, fortunately, which some of my readers proved by leaving comments about being able to run it on other versions. I personally had no access to “lower” tiers of Windows, so I couldn’t see how it works, which is now fixed – here is a guide how I was able to run it on Windows 7 Professional. Should work for Home/Home Premium as well. Click previews to see bigger versions of screenshots.
First thing, you will need to download and install a program called Vistalizator – official site here. You have to download the program itself (like at the top of the site) AND download Windows MUI Language pack for your system. Click the right link, then scroll down to Korean language and download an .exe file.
If you are unsure what version you need, open Start menu, right-click on My Computer and open Properties.
I highlighted the important parts on this page:
Install Vistalizator, run it, press Add languages button and choose the language pack file you downloaded. it will start installing the language pack, which may take a while.
When it asks if you want to set this language as your system one, say no. At the end your Vistalizator window should look like this:
Now, go to your your Command panel > Region and Languages settings, open Location tab and choose Korea:
Switch to Administrative tab and change system locale to Korean (Korean).
Now, as we’re all set, go to Alicia Online website and login. Press Start.
If you’re running it for the first time, it will take you to this page. Basically it says you need to install a script, on Internet Explorer it will open a panel asking to install, for other browsers (Chrome and Firefox are supported now too) you have to click the button. If you already have installed Gametree Launcher, you will not see these windows and should skip a few steps further down.
Should offer you to download the file now and show this window in browser.
After you download and run Gametree Launcher, it will ask if you want it to install, press Yes.
Okay, go back to the main page and press Start again. It will take you to this page, where to run the game you have to press the second button:
The game will then proceed to downloading (or updating, if you had an install on this machine previously):
It’s done and loading:
And it lives!!
Congratulations, you made it!
