Famous Fails: Guild Wars review

Famous Fails: Guild Wars reviewThis is my first post in the “Famous Fails” list (not mentioning the introductory post i wrote prior to this one). In short, i am going to write about the famous, well-rated games that are liked by many – and found almost totally unplayable by myself. This is my (not so) humble opinion, so you’d welcome to throw shit at it only if you have some cool arguments to prove me wrong.

Join the millions of players worldwide who have become enraptured by Guild Wars®, the award-winning, epic game that revolutionized online role-playing.
Enraptured? Oh, you bet i was! (more…)

The Nintendo entertainment system turns 25 today!

The nintendo entertainment system turns 25 today!

Happy birthday, you old piece of plastic! I wish those grandchildren of yours would be as cool as you were in your day and age!

This is kind of off-topic to mmorpg stuff, but i simple couldn’t post about this!

Kitsu Saga – Gameplay Trailer

By the gameplay videos and what i have seen during the closed beta, this game looks like at least 6 years old, or worse. But we have to wait to see if it appears to be something better than what its graphic’s first impression tells.

As described by MMORPG.com, “Kitsu Saga is a free-to-play 3D fantasy MMORPG developed by X-Legend and published by Aeria Games. The game features the typical MMO trappings including many quests and a variety of mounts, but what sets Kitsu Saga apart are the multiple-character ages where players can adventure as either a child or adult, and the ability to fight along the Kitsu, a fox-like creature”.
Feels like a Prius Online rip-off to me, but it’s too early to say – a week of closed beta experience is not enought for me to make the final decision.

New Facebook game “Zen garden” – a new star or a new fail?

New facebook game “zen garden” – a new star or a new fail? It has come to my attention that a new game named “Zen Garden” has been released on Facebook. The new players are coming to see a shiny graphics and a fresh Japanese-style-flower-garden-farm game play.
Would this particular game be a hit?
I’ve played it for months in Russian social network VKontakte long before it was released for Facebook and i must tell you some really important stuff concerning this particular game and its developers. (more…)

A short thought on mmos market state by eyes of a gamer

A short thought on mmos market state by eyes of a gamer I’ve spent a lot of time looking all up and down online games lists like Mmorpg.com, and even more time i invested in taking a look at those most popular games, reading their player community reviews and seeing the games with my own eyes. There are some basic tendencies i have spotted in the process, they are all well worth their own posts (i totally should write them sometime), but here comes the summary first. (more…)

MMORPG Gold Selling – Not all that glitters is gold

MMORPG Gold Selling - Not all that glitters is Gold “Buy WOW Gold Cheap”, “Buy Maple Story Mesos”, etc. – we, as gamers, are practically plagued by the ads like these. We see them inside the Google AdSence rotation, we are spammed with them while playing our games and reading our emails… More on that, many of us are directly abused by gold farmers and their in-game activity like robbing us of good spots and top-rated mobs. Still, I’m sure i would be safe to say, that even if you didn’t buy in-game currency, someone you know did that, and maybe more than once. This is a huge market, but were you ever wondering how it’s working and what you are stepping into when you decide to “buy cheap gold”? (more…)

Mortal Online – is it a good game?

You have probably heard of it recently.
Mortal Online by Star Vault, a first-person fantasy mmorpg, with full pvp and unique real-time AND mounted combat. It’s classless and skill-driven, plus most of the items could be crafted by the players themselves, so not only should it be a cool place for a pvp lover, but also a crafter’s heaven. And here comes the big hairy “but” – it doesn’t have a trial or buddy key, you need to spent $50 to see for yourself if it’s any good. (more…)
